i hope that today can be a blessing for all the forms of love that resound in beautiful accompaniment to our relational webs. i am in a constant discernment around what stories of love have been passed down to me and what are the stories of love that feel true to me.
i am struck by my friend forest who writes of love as an acceptance of others for who they are and where they are, as well as uncle bob in his reference of love as an experience in the melding possible when recognizing our true interdependence.
i also want to uplift the fierce love I feel in commitment. That by committing to a relationship we weather the storms. I see this in my blood family, in the ways we clash yet because of our deep commitment to each other, I know forgiveness is around the corner.
Lastly, I want to share a definition of romance that Travis, a dear friend and comrade in village making, spoke to me today: romance as the confluence of care and creativity.
I love this definition because it frees me from the constraints that romance is reserved only for “romantic partnerships.” May we cultivate romance in all our relationships, including those of non-human descent.
So much love on this favorite holiday of mine!
Bless!
What beautiful blessings in your words and art!
Thank you dear Kdog!
