the cycles of the seasons teach us, non-linear flows. & big update!

Hello!

Thank you for following along with my comix! They’ve been changing shape lately, and they will likely continue to as I embark on a profound journey.

I will be headed to my ancestral homelands on my matrilineal side in 江西 and 广东 in a trip that took shape as an option just a month and a half ago. I will also be in Taiwan, Eastern China, and in Central China to study at Five Immortals Temple with LiXiFu: Daoist medicine.

A guide and friend of mine, told me that part of my journey in this life is to help complete the cycle from four generations ago. So the omens that I am to return to the place my great grandparents left feels like an ominous moment.

I use these words, omen and ominous intentionally, in the spirit of the old latin word osmen, meaing: of uncertain ultimate origin. This definition for me, cannot be understood, only felt.

In honor of this moment, my dear friend Tiff and I wanted to share a project we have been working on for over a year. It is truly a labor of love and holds the intention to be both a learning journey and sharing of our ancestral philosophies.

We have been working on an Oracle Deck that hopes to express the non dualistic perspective of the elemental phases that originate three thousands years ago. These energies were symbolized and carved on bone and shells as a way to divine and speak to the unseen.

There is great wisdom to these ways of seeing the world, and they express a value that Cattails Comix holds: we are intrinsically interrelated and so, the only truth of self is a truth that is willing to change.

At this posting, I will be in lands far away. As Francisco says, “the new West.” And the elements or phases or pathways as they are sometimes called in English, will come out twice a week.
